Area Youth Residential Treatment Facility Open House Next Week. Ribbon Cutting & Dedication Tuesday, March 23rd at 4:00 p.m. Area residents and businesses are invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house next week at Group Homes for Children’s newly renovated New Horizons facility. The event will be Tuesday, March 23rd from 4:00-7:00 pm. Refreshments and tours of the facility will be available with a brief ceremony beginning at 4:30 pm. Montgomery Chamber of Commerce officials will be on hand.
The recently updated New Horizons facility is located at 1905 South Court Street in Montgomery.
New Horizons is one of four different homes operated by Group Homes for Children in the
Montgomery area. Each facility offers unique treatment options to meet the needs of area young
adults. New Horizons provides counseling and specialized treatment for teens who have been abused or neglected. Treatment lasts from nine to 12 months. Many of these children struggle with emotional or behavioral problems and their needs cannot be met in other treatment settings.
“Without Group Homes for Children and the dedicated staff and volunteers, hundreds of vulnerable children would have no safe place to go,” says Demetria Parnell, Group Homes for
Children Executive Officer. “The goal of GHFC is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of area
youth.”
Group Homes for Children provides care planning, crisis management services, counseling, continued education, tutoring services, follow-up services after discharge, access to community
resources and life skills development.
